**** This case study pertains to a project undertaken at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde-SPaCE as part of my Diploma in UI/UX Web Design & Development, intended solely for academic study purposes.
Overview
Pawz is here to help thousands of Pet owners around the world cope with their furry family member’s separation anxiety and get through these tough times. Pawz’s goal is to give you a simple way to keep an eye on your furry family member wherever you are. You can see and talk to your pet in real-time using your phone's camera and microphone. Plus, you can schedule your pet's food intake and keep an eye on their location with the system's smart feeder and collar.

Problem Statement
There are already pet monitoring apps on the market. Most of these apps only allow you to see and talk to your pets through your phone’s built-in camera and microphone. But monitoring your pets shouldn’t just mean seeing or talking to them at home. You should also be able to schedule their food intake and monitor their whereabouts. There are other apps in the market that offer these features as well but they are all separate apps and products.
Goals & Solutions
The aim of Pawz is to provide a 3 in 1 platform where owners can monitor their pets, schedule their food intake and track their location without the need to download multiple apps.
User & Audience
User Testing & Usability Testing
For Jean
Who needs to monitor her pets while she’s on a 5-day seminar. Needed an app that she can monitor and at the same time be able to feed her pet with correct portion as most app offerings only has the cctv monitoring but not integrated with the smart feeder and location finder.
Our Service is a Real-Time Interactive Application System for Pet Monitoring.
Which Provides help to thousands of pet owners. Our goal is to give you a simple way to keep an eye on your furry family member wherever you are. You can see and talk to your pet in real-time using your phone's camera and microphone. Plus, you can schedule your pet's food intake and keep an eye on their location with the system's smart feeder and collar.
Once we finished the wireframes, we reached out to jean for a prototype testing session. and ask for feedback on how the overall flow working for her.
Roles & Responsibilities
Sarah and I worked together on this project to create a user interface (UI) for a pet monitoring app. As part of our collaboration, we conducted in-depth research on user experience to gain a comprehensive understanding of user behavior and created a branding for Pawz. Despite working within a specific timeframe, we successfully developed a real-time interactive application system that allows pet owners to interact with their pets, even when they are not at home. Our UI design is seamless and intuitive, enabling pet owners to easily interact with their pets, as well as monitor their location and feeding hours.
Scope & Constraints
USER: Pet owners ages 20-40 years old who are tech-savvy.
MARKET: Pet owners between the socio-economic brackets of the middle and upper classes.
It is recommended that pet owners purchase the complete system (application, feeder, and collar).
It is recommended that all pet owners have two devices.
It is recommended for Dogs & Cats pet owners.
It is recommended to have only a maximum of 3 Devices (2 pet stations and 1 person station).
The Smart Feeder and Collar Tag only work if it is provided by Pawz.
The Smart Feeder only works for food pellets and not on wet pet food or water.
It is recommended to have a fully functional Internet connection.
Project Timeline
Agile Scrum was our approach in this case, and one of the many advantages of this approach is that we produce results each sprint (in this case, we have a sprint/time box of 4 days). As each sprint is completed, the stack of “done items“ increases until we reach the right number or mix of “done“ items.
It’s our belief that small “done“ Items are the way to go. They’re less risky, they’re easier to understand, and they’re faster to test.
For this project, the ideal cadence would be about 2-3 weeks between releases. We wouldn’t say that we’d never release big new features, but that we would release them in a less risky and more controlled way where each sprint have been tested until the deliverables.
Prototype
Conclusion
We’ve concluded that Pet monitoring shouldn’t be limited to simply seeing your pets real-time. It should also offer other ways for pet owners to monitor their pets’ well-being when they are away from home. By including a smart feeder and collar to the app, pet owners can now do more when it comes to monitoring their pets. With Paws Pet Monitoring System, pet owners would be able see their pets, schedule their feeding and track their location with just a single application.
